East Cost

Halifax on the east coast is a cool and grungy location – with great coffee shops on almost every corner and fantastic live music in many bars. The city’s museum of immigration is certainly worth a visit and can bring a tear to the eye. There are also plenty of historic properties to look at around town as well. The Museum of Natural History is a highlight for many kids, not least because you can go on tours where you learn how to cook bugs.



Also on the east coast are some unique small towns to explore. Peggy’s Cove near Halifax is like nowhere else on earth – a handful of buildings scattered around the rocks with a lighthouse that doubles up as a post office. Try to get there early or late to avoid the crowds. Also worth seeing in this part of the country is Lunenburg, another world heritage site.
